However, Kurt struggled with his mental health and alcohol addiction. He loved his family, he loved serving his country, and had a deeply rooted commitment to making a difference. Kurt was a very generous individual with a heart of gold. He also enjoyed playing video games, board games, watching anime, and cheering for his favorite Minnesota Sport Teams.

At the age of 4, Kurt and his family relocated to Vesta, Minnesota for a few years before planting their roots in Marshall, Minnesota. As an infant, he was baptized at Pax Christi Church in Rochester. Kurt Charles Lonien was born on August 31, 1982, to Charles and Jean (Olberding) Lonien in Rochester, Minnesota. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made out to the family for use for a future designation. Visitation will be held one hour prior to his celebration, from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m., on Thursday, also at the Hamilton Funeral Home.
